Held at the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) in Sydney on 26 February, the third Australian White Ensign Dinner attracted 89 guests, a mix of the Naval Officers Club, Naval Warfare Officers Association (NWOA), Naval Historical Society and RAC members.
Following an address by Chief of Navy, Vice Admiral Michael Noonan on the state of the Navy, guests were privileged to witness a presentation of an honour board honouring NOC member Guy Griffiths by Tony Flint, President of the NWOA, to the CO of Watson, Captain Heath Robertson. The board will be hung at HMAS Watson alongside other honour boards.
The theme of the enlightening AWE Oration delivered by Desmond Woods was “The changes in RAN culture since the AWE was first hoisted in 1967”.
