ACT NOC AGM and Luncheon 2 November 2020
Having broken the Pandemic drought with a luncheon at its ‘home venue’, the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden, the ACT Division continued with its next planned event on Monday 2 November – the deferred AGM from April 2020 and a luncheon. Twenty-four members were able to attend and, despite the Covid 19 restrictions, a good level of social interaction resulted.
A highlight of the event was the retirement of long-serving Treasurer, Deane Walkington, which was suitably acknowledged by former ACT Chairman, Mike Taylor. Not surprisingly, Les Roberts was enthusiastically confirmed by all as Deane’s replacement. Also during the AGM, members elected Ian Noble as the Deputy Chairman and Minutes Secretary of the ACT Division.
A sad note was the tribute paid to one of the ACT Division’s longer term members, David Ruffin who suffered a fatal heart attack in October. His departure was suitably acknowledged by all members.
The ACT Division hopes to conclude its 2020 social program on Friday 4 December with a pre-Christmas Brunch at the Commonwealth Club, which will include spouses or partners.
