On Monday 4 July the ACT Division at last managed to schedule and hold a guest luncheon at the usual monthly venue, the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden. Fifty members and guests were present whilst a few more had to pull out because of Covid. The two course, alternate-serve lunch featured beef and salmon dishes followed by strawberry pavlova or chocolate mousse. Many attendees commented favorably on the quality. Between courses, national president, Simon Cullen led a Q & A session on life in the Navy today, which was well-received, especially by lady guests. Many were quite surprised if not shocked, at the apparent passing of many Navy social traditions relating to Wardroom life. On the other hand, it was pleasing to hear about the fine quality of contemporary naval personnel.
